The Acre_

South Yorkshire

This whole-house refurbishment establishes a cohesive design narrative by balancing soaring, light-filled agricultural volumes with intimate, classical living spaces. The overarching structural identity relies on strong architectural anchors—such as massive, exposed oak ceiling trusses in the pavilion and deep coffered ceilings in the drawing room—to frame each space with historical weight. High-contrast textures run consistently through the entire property, pairing warm, hand-textured plaster walls and traditional panelled millwork with highly figured, heavily veined Calacatta marble slabs. Sleek black aluminium window frames and crisp arched doorways act as a consistent graphic outline, structuralizing the transition between the open-concept zones and the more secluded rooms.

The unified user experience centres on fluid interior circulation and a multi-sensory connection to comfort and nature. Across all areas of the home, the floor plan optimises views of the surrounding landscape, using expansive sliding glass doors and traditional sash windows to flood the limestone and carpeted floors with natural daylight. Occupants navigate a balanced layout that transitions naturally from active, highly interactive social zones—like the central kitchen island bar and dining pavilion—to deeply quiet, low-profile lounge nooks anchored by open linear fireplaces. This spatial flow is softened throughout by an organic, grounding material palette of olive greenery, plush velvet fabrics, raw timber furniture, and warm brown textiles, creating a continuous feeling of calm residential luxury.
