The Garth_
A structural insertion between two outdoor climates, this vaulted volume serves as a high-clearance lens through which to experience the landscape. The layout runs a single, continuous floor plane between two completely glazed boundaries, turning the living area into an open conduit for cross-directional daylight.
Opposing structural rhythms manage this transparency. On the front facade, thick load-bearing stone columns frame deep-set, fixed portrait apertures to shield the interior from the entry approach. This weight is countered on the reverse elevation, where the building envelope dissolves into a thin-profile sliding system that frames unhindered views of the tree line.
Overhead, the roof geometry slices upward into a stark white apex. A staggered sequence of roof windows punctures the pitch, dropping vertical shafts of sunlight across the matte, large-format stoneware floor tiles, while a vertical column of mirror-polished spheres anchors the central ridge line.
