The Hub transforms a run-down portal-frame shed into a new home for 21 Degrees. Showroom, workplace and brand space come together under one roof, creating somewhere to display products, demonstrate services and meet customers. The industrial shell stays. Its identity changes completely.
Long, closed elevations and a weak entrance gave the existing building little presence. The portal frame offered volume, but the architecture around it had faded. No clear arrival. Little connection between inside and out. A building designed to contain, rather than display. The opportunity was to open it up and give the shed a new face.
A new entrance cuts into the existing envelope and becomes the focus of the approach. Windows puncture previously solid elevations, bringing daylight into the deep plan and revealing glimpses of the showroom within. The façade is reworked around the existing structure, using rhythm, proportion and material to break down its industrial scale. Inside, the exposed volume of the portal frame becomes an asset — a generous backdrop for products, displays and demonstration spaces.
The result is sharper, brighter and far more open. New glazing brings transparency and depth across the elevations, while the remodelled façade gives the long shed a stronger rhythm. The entrance projects its presence towards the approach, drawing visitors directly into the showroom. Outside, a redesigned car park and landscape create a cleaner foreground to the building. Industrial bones remain visible beneath it all. Old shed. New frontage. A working showroom built around the scale that was already there.
