The Intersection_
The Intersection starts with a prominent city-centre site at a road junction in Lincolnshire. Multiple approaches. Multiple viewpoints. No elevation that could afford to be secondary. Eight OneTwo was appointed at the front end to unlock the site, test its capacity and give the development an architectural identity strong enough to take to investors. Find the value. Give it form.
The city closes in around the site. Existing buildings set the scale, streets define the edges and neighbouring elevations sit close enough to influence light, outlook and privacy. Add the junction and the building has no quiet side — every face contributes to the street. The architecture needed to find its own presence within an established urban grain, working between what was already there rather than standing apart from it.
Volumes slide, step and turn across the plot, responding to the streets and buildings around them. Upper levels project beyond those below, creating depth and breaking down the overall mass. Corners sharpen towards key approaches, while repeated openings establish rhythm along the longer elevations. Larger areas of glass interrupt the solidity at selected moments, pulling light into the deeper plan. One composition. Different faces.
The result is architecture designed to be seen from every direction. Solid planes give the building weight, while glazing brings light and reflection across the elevations. Projecting volumes create shadow and a constantly shifting silhouette against the surrounding city. At street level, the building holds the junction; above, the mass breaks down against its neighbours. The Intersection takes a constrained urban site in Lincolnshire and gives it presence without losing sight of the city around it.
