The Knight of Notting Hill Hotel_
The architectural framework of this boutique guest house utilises integrated millwork and a high-contrast envelope to optimise its compact footprint. The primary white oak installation anchors the room with a flush-mounted media display panel, an integrated beverage station for a kettle, and a dressing table desk flanked by cabinetry doors that enclose a hidden minifridge. Directly below, a lift-up panel on mechanical stays allows travel cases and shoes to be tucked away out of sight. This neutral, structured joinery contrasts with an avant-garde ceiling canvas featuring bold, fluid lines tightly boxed in by thick black-lacquered crown mouldings. The surrounding sleeping zone centres on a sculptural velvet headboard, flanked by raw timber bedside tables and sharply punctuated by bold, monochromatic striped accent pillows on clean white linens.
The customer experience focuses on tactile interaction with the room's built-in features to clear physical clutter from the environment. Guests lift the stay-supported panel to store travel gear, keeping the herringbone oak floor completely open. At the integrated desk, visitors can transition smoothly between using the workspace, making a hot beverage, or retrieving a drink from the hidden fridge. While the primary joinery remains a consistent architectural anchor across the property, the loose furniture—such as velvet armchairs, stools, and tufted banquettes—varies across each suite, using a mix of distinct shapes and varying colours like gold, chocolate brown, and deep forest green that play on the eclectic, artistic setting of Notting Hill.
