To achieve the client's brief, Eight_OneTwo created a bespoke proposal for a single storey rear extension cloaked in Zinc to modernise the detached dwelling.

The existing dwelling lacked cohesion especially with the rear elevation having non proportionate windows in both style and pattern.  separate garage with a differing pitch roof to that of the host dwelling which only created more separation to the existing rear elevation.

Rationalise the rear elevation to provide coherance and to connect the front to back internal living space to create flow and an open plan living arrangement.

The garden space to the far end of the property provides a semi sheltered seating area with a perforated Cor-ten panel creating a dividing screen and privacy from the main road below.

The intention was to create an open plan single storey extension that spread along the entire rear elevation with considered glazing proportions that provide harmony and balance to the property.

The design is cloaked in one primary material of zinc to provide a modern response and an overhang into the garden providing an enclosed outside space whilst at the same time covering up the inconsistent existing dwelling.
